01The mint
There are 2,222 outlaws. 2,000 of them are for sale, and 222 are kept in reserve for the team and partners. The mint is paid in ETH.
| Phase | Who can mint | How long | Per wallet |
|---|---|---|---|
| GTD | wallets on the GTD list | 1 hour | 5 |
| FCFS | wallets on the FCFS list | 2 hours | 10 |
| Public | everyone | until sold out, at most 48 hours | 10 |
The first outlaw costs 0.0004 ETH. Every sale raises the price by 0.15%, up to a maximum of 0.003 ETH. Half of the mint money is used on launch day to buy the game token, and all of those tokens go into the game’s treasury. The other half goes to the owner. The team cannot mint during the paid phases.
02The reveal
Rarity sets how big a share of the loot an outlaw gets.
| Rarity | How many | Share |
|---|---|---|
| Legendary | 66 | ×3 |
| Epic | 222 | ×2 |
| Rare | 600 | ×1.4 |
| Common | 1,334 | ×1 |
The list of rarities is written into the contract before the mint starts. Ten minutes after the mint ends, the public drand beacon publishes a random number that nobody could know in advance. That number shifts the list, and the shift decides which outlaw gets which rarity. Anyone can send the number to the contract: the bot does it on its own, and the site has a button for it as well. Outlaws cannot be transferred between the end of the mint and the reveal.
03The map and roads
To play, a wallet opens the map once by paying a small entry fee in the game token. 90% of the fee goes to the treasury and 10% to the owner’s vault. After that the wallet registers its outlaws for free and picks a road for each one. The road cannot be changed later.
| Road | Chance of jail in each raid | Share |
|---|---|---|
| Trail | 5% | ×1.0 |
| Tract | 10% | ×1.4 |
| Royal Road | 20% | ×1.9 |
An outlaw’s weight is its rarity share multiplied by its road share. Outlaws registered before raid 1 ride from raid 1. Outlaws registered later skip the next raid and ride from the one after it. Registration closes at raid 12. A registered outlaw keeps riding after it is sold. The team cannot open the map: that means the owner, the launch wallet and the owner of the vault.
04Raids and loot
There are 18 raids, one every four hours, at 00, 04, 08, 12, 16 and 20 UTC. Each raid goes like this:
- Prisoners whose time for a buyout has run out are burned.
- Each free outlaw may get caught, with the jail chance of its road.
- The outlaws that are still free share 3% of the treasury by weight. The 18th raid shares the whole treasury.
If no outlaw stays free in a raid, its share stays in the treasury. If no outlaw survives the final raid, whatever is left goes to the vault.
05Jail and buyouts
A caught outlaw earns nothing and cannot be moved or sold. An outlaw caught in raid N can be bought out until raid N+3, and at the start of raid N+3 it is burned. After a buyout it rides again from the next raid. In the final raid every prisoner is burned.
Loot that an outlaw earned before its arrest is not lost. It is paid out with the buyout, or, if the outlaw burns, the wallet that held it at that moment can claim it within the usual 12 hours.
The buyout price is 30% of what the outlaw would get if the game ended right now, that is its weight times the treasury divided by the weight of all living outlaws. The price is never lower than a quarter of the entry fee, and it grows 1.5 times for every earlier buyout of the same outlaw. 90% of the price goes to the treasury and 10% to the vault. A buyout pays off if the outlaw’s chance of reaching the final is above about 30%, and the site shows that chance.
06Twelve hours to claim
Loot builds up on each outlaw, and one claim collects it from all of your outlaws at once. The loot from each raid can be claimed for 12 hours after that raid is paid. After that anyone can send it to the owner’s vault, and the bot does this on its own. After the final raid you also have 12 hours, and then the rest goes to the vault.
Claims are closed while a raid is being processed and during a pause, and that time still counts toward the 12 hours. Loot belongs to the outlaw, not to the wallet. If you sell an outlaw, its unclaimed loot goes with it, so claim before you sell.
07The odds
The chance that an outlaw is never caught:
| Raids left | Trail | Tract | Royal Road |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 95% | 90% | 80% |
| 6 | 74% | 53% | 26% |
| 12 | 54% | 28% | 7% |
| 18 | 40% | 15% | 2% |
These are only odds, not a promise. How much loot you get depends on how many other outlaws ride and which of them get caught.
08Fair play
- Nobody knows the result in advance. Every raid takes its random number from drand, a public randomness beacon run by independent organisations. The raid uses the first drand round at or after its scheduled time, and the contract checks drand’s signature itself. Neither the owner nor the bot can learn a result early or roll again.
- A late bot changes nothing. Raids follow a fixed schedule. From a raid’s scheduled time until it is processed, nothing that could make use of the new number works: outlaws in the game cannot be moved, and buyouts, registrations and claims are closed.
- The owner can do very little. The owner can pause the game. Only after 24 hours of pause can the owner move the treasury to the vault and end the game, and loot that was already earned can still be claimed. The owner has no other powers.
- Where the extra money goes. The owner’s vault receives 10% of every entry fee and buyout, the loot nobody claimed in time, and whatever is left after the final raid.
09Trading
Outlaws can be traded on OpenSea after the reveal. An outlaw in jail cannot be transferred, and neither can any registered outlaw while a raid is being processed, so buying such an outlaw will fail. Royalties are 5% and optional on OpenSea.
10Questions
- The site doesn’t see my wallet.
- Open the site by its web address (https://…), not as a file on your computer. Unlock the wallet, allow it on this site in the extension’s site access settings, and reload the page. On a phone, open the site in your wallet app’s built-in browser, or connect with WalletConnect.
- Do I need ETH?
- Yes. The mint is paid in ETH, and every transaction on Robinhood Chain needs a little ETH for gas. The entry fee and buyouts are paid in the game token.
- I bought an outlaw on OpenSea. Can I play with it?
- If it is already registered, it keeps riding and its loot is yours. To register an outlaw that isn’t registered yet, or to buy one out of jail, open the map with your wallet first.
- What if the bot is late?
- Nothing changes. The raid uses the drand number for its scheduled time. If drand is down, the raid waits until it is back.
